The „Bushbox Ultralight“ in detail
Bushbox Ultralight
- The Bushbox Ultralight is - as the name suggests - a super-light outdoor stove made of 0.3 mm spring steel. It can be flexibly assembled using the accessories and adapted for a wide range of applications.
- Ideal for cooking for 1-2 people or as a wind shield for a gas or spirit burners.
- The ingenious locking mechanism holds the side panels firmly together, ensuring the stove’s stability. Disassembly takes just seconds: Once the locking mechanism on one side is released, the stove components easily separate for convenient storage.
- With the Bushbox Ultralight you are completely independent, as it can be used in many different ways and is suitable for natural solid fuels (small twigs, branches, leaves) as well as for spirit burners (e.g. Trangia), Esbit tablets, gel cookers, etc. For soil protection when using wood, we recommend the optional Ash Plate.
- With its small pack size (only approx. 1.5 mm thick when disassembled), the stove can be stowed anywhere.
- The Bushbox Ultralight is well thought-out down to the smallest detail and offers you many possibilities for individual use. The included Base Plate and the optional Ash Plate can be positioned in three different ways. For an even lighter setup, you can use two Trivets. The combination of the Base Plate and a Trivet is perfect for the Trangia, and with the Grill Plate, you can even prepare small grilled meals. The possibilities are endless!
- To use as little plastic as possible, your Bushbox Ultralight comes in a lightweight cotton bag. For regular use, we recommend our Outdoor Bag Bushbox Ultralight.

How our stoves work:
All our Bushboxes follow the stack effect (or chimney principle): The air flows into the stove from below, causes even damp material to burn and produces strong heat which – thanks to the clever design of the stove - is directed straight upwards and hardly radiates to the sides. Compared to a campfire, the Bushbox allows for a clean, compact and safe way of cooking, fully in line with the "Leave no Trace" principle.
Trivet Bushbox Ultralight
- The included Trivet provides additional stability for the stove.
- On top of the Bushbox Ultralight it ensures safe standing for cups and cooking vessels of almost any size.
- The holes in the Trivet ensure a sufficient air supply between flame and cookware.
- The Trivet can also be used instead of the Base Plate as a lighter base for the Trangia.

Love it! My favourite minimalist stove.
This is my favourite minimalist stove. Use it with both alcohol - Toaks syphon, when only boiling needed, or Trangia when more cooking involved and wood whenever possible. Sometimes I just make a tiny fire in it and watch it burn. Who doesn't like watching a fire burn, aren't we all here on this site because of this? One thing that can be improved - I've cut out 3 small tabs out of 0.8mm stainless steel that fit into the corner slots and I use them to fit a windscreen on them. For the alcohol stoves it's absolutely essential to have a windscreen, they're nearly useless without one in windy conditions. Another option would be to cut the three panels with extensions that would accommodate a windscreen aka Clikstand stove.
The Bushbox, together with the Toaks syphon, windscreen, and a 120ml bottle of alcohol fit into my 700 ml Snow Peak. Perfect!
Thanks for the review! And we will contact you regarding your improvement ideas.
Impressed
My wife got it for me as a birthday present. I did hint strongly what I wanted lol. I played around with it at home to figure out how to put it together. In the field it went right together. My one very little problem was in starting the fire. I'm use to a bigger wood stove but I got it figured out. Once going it took right off. Needed to constantly feed wood to the fire but as a trade off it works. I wanted it to go with my Maxpedition 10x4 bottle carrier with 2 skinny side pouches. My Varusteleka Sarma wood stove is too wide and tall but this baby works perfect. Trying to lighten up on equipment when I go fly fishing.....so far so good.
If you love Lightweight backpacking
Hi, I thought at first this stove would be my least favourite of the Bushbox stoves that I have purchased, but how wrong was I. This little stove can do it all
ELEGANT AND FUNCTIONAL
Featherweight elegant design, wonderful marriage of beauty and practicality. Every camping pack, bugout bag, and emergency kit should have one. Great companion to the 1.3 oz. RUCAS alcohol stove.
Excellent bit of kit
So far I've only used this product together with an alcohol stove. For this it works really nicely. A Trangia burner can be securely clamped in the slots for the lower ashtray, hence in this setup you only really need the three side plates. I only wish the protruding pot stands would be a bit wider (further towards the centre of the side plates), to make a more stable base for smaller pots.
+ Light and compact
+ Fits nicely together with Trangia burner
+ More versatile than other alcohol burner pot stands
- The protruding pot stands could have been slightly wider
Fits in your pocket, clearly the most lightweight Hobo stove that really cooks, perfect compact EDC companion
This little Hobo Stove is indeed ultralight. Now, ultralight is one thing that makes it perfect for a compact EDC or a hunting trip or a day hiking but one might wonder wether it really works. And the simple answer to this question is : yes, it DOES!
Of course, this doesn't have the work power of a bigger stove but it still works fine, uses very little biomass, still works with what you can gather around your position (so you don't necessarily have to pack solid alcohol), will help your Trianga system by protecting the flame from the wind, and is no bother to put up. All this adding minimal weight to your backpack and offering little additional bother to a compact EDC (which is exactly what I'll use this for).
Another question is: is it easy to put up, start a fire with it? And the answer is : Again, yes. You won't have to be a mastermind in puzzle resolution to do this. It takes about a minute to put all the pieces together. The pack is composed of 5 metal pieces in a cotton protection sleeve. Now there are a few nice accessories that can be added like a stronger protection sleeve or an ash-tray collector (which will make using solid alcohol easier).
The triangular design makes it fairly stable even with a larger pot. The size though is perfect for a camping personal pot as you can see from the video. I chose wood as a fuel because it is the hardest to use on this but it proved pretty easy even with a bit of wind (as you can hear from the beginning of the video). You can choose to use either the top piece or the dents to put your pot on, depending on the size. I needed very little fuel to boil a cup of water and using little biomass is the main purpose of these little stoves. Also add the ashtray collector piece and it becomes isolated from the ground and therefore safer to use everywhere.
After use, the stainless steel sides will hold their curved form a little because of the heat. I didn't bother gettting them back into their original form, still works fine.
The decoration holes on the sides provide oxygen to the fire and protect it enough to not extinguish your starting flame. As you can see from the video, combustion is very complete despite the size.
Overall, I was very impressed by this little stove. If you're looking for something that is very compact but still want to use biomass that you can find in your surroundings and not carry solid alcohol, then this is your choice away from an Ezbit or Trangia.I mean these are nice choices but less versatile.
Now if you want more power, I suggest you consider the Bushbox XL also from this maker. Like this one, it has a very well thought and sturdy design and you can't go wrong. This model is ultra lightweight, the other one not so but a real workhorse.
I published the same review on Amazon where I added a video of this stove in use, check this link : https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R17HUG3P4SLGSK/ref=pe_1572281_66412651_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv
Fantastico!

Great bit of equipment, time has been taken in the manufacturing of this item.
Does what it says on the tin...
Amazing stove, as the name suggests 'ultralight', excellent quality and a good solid piece of kit, mainly for use with my trangia stove but great for a wood fire, only need to keep it fed with small sticks. YouTube video to follow, use, thoughts and product. XL next on my list, I'll have to be nice to her in doors first though :0)

My brother recommended I may like this website. He used to be totally right. This post truly made my day. You can not consider simply how so much time I had spent for this info! Thanks! keedebceeefgdedd
LIGHTWEIGHT & HIGH QUALITY
-Good point
1. Small and lightweight
2. High rigidity
3. Firewood port on sidewall is wide, so possible to set thicker firewood
-No good point
1. It's easy to burn low when any cookware(mug, cooker, etc.) is set on trivet. Trivet height is low, so difficult to realize chimney effect. It seems to be a lid when something is set on trivet.
I guess it suitable to take a warm without anything on trivet, but not good to cook something because difficult to keep constant fire power.
[Comment by Bushcraft Essentials: If you operate the Bushbox according to the instruction manual, you will be able to easily cook on the Bushbox. Just don't overload it with wood, use rather larger pieces of wood and make sure the Bushbox can breathe. If you want to have a really good chimney effect we recommend the Bushbox XL for very easy and very fast cooking]
Nice. Bit of kit
I used to use the trangia triangle but after time the burner holder isn't days good a fit as it used to be,so on occasions the burner will drop down out of position, which could cause a fire, that stove has been retired and this new one fits nicely in the trangia case
Light-weight brilliant designed stove
The design is brilliant, super light weight, love it. Like it better than Esbit folding stove, but also cost more. Paid $38 plus shipping for it. Expected a higher quality stove, two of the edges holding the trivet came in burnt and discolored, had to fix it myself. The craftsmanship is not as I had expected.
Great little stove!
This is a great little wood stove! You can burn wood, solid fuel and alcohol as well... Very light weight and any kind of backpacking trip as your main stove or backup stove. Customer support was great when I made my order and the stove was in my had in a few days..
Best Design out there
I also have the Trangia Triangle, the Esbit Pot stand and used to own a clicstand. I am making a direct comparison to those models in this review. This is lighter and has greater utility than either of the other models. Mine arrived with the ashtray, grill, and trivet attachments. I also use a veggie can top that was removed with an opener which cuts around the outside edge of the can instead of the inside of the lid and made an excellent base/priming plate for my homemade alcohol stove which clicks neatly into the middle slots on the base. To address the challenge of different pot sizes mentioned by one reviewer on this site. I simple slide the trivet neatly into the three slots on top of the stand that were designed to receive it and can use any size pot, pan or even cup with this set up. I have not used wood but have used it with a trangia burner and hexamine tablets. Tt worked great with both , but I prefer my homemade pop can burners because they are lighter and simmer much better. All things considered this is an excellent product. I may order a couple more to keep as backups, but only if I catch them on sale again for $32 US which is what I paid.
Excellent lightweight and versatile unit.
Having bought two Bushbox 'pocket' units and the Bushbox XL I decided to try the lighterweight version and was thoroughly satisfied with my decision when this unit arrived. I wanted this one primarily for use with a Trangia spirit burner and I was certainly not disappointed. It is simple to assemble (well, after the first couple of fumbling attempts..lol) it is extremely secure when assembled and superbly stable, even with larger pots. Fuel consumption (methylated spirits in the UK) is very economical and the ability to use the simmer ring is a thoughtful addition to the range of food producing potential. I have yet to try it as a wood burner but see no reason why it will not be equally efficient.
As with all the Bushcraft Essentials products I have so far handled the quality and workmanship is beyond compare.
So impressed am I, with the company's products, I have just ordered my one missing cooking unit - the miniscule EDC stove. I am not a stove junkie....honestly...LOL.
A great simple design that works really well
A great simple design that works really well... exceptionally small and light. What works best for me:
1. I use it with a few handfuls of dry grass as a starter, then twigs and sticks. About 4 handful of sticks to boil 500ml of water.
2. Using a pot of 95-98mm diameter means it fits between the supports on the top of the stove (and it won't fall through), so you won't need to carry or use the top trivet.
3. Without the top trivet, it 's easiest to feed the fire by just lifting the pot and adding a handful of sticks.
4. To clean the pot and stove parts (to remove the burnt wood resin or soot) when I get home, just spray it with oven cleaning spray.

Lightweight and very functional
Lightweight it is, but still very strong.
And it is a very small package like the standard bushbox.
Works well with an alcohol stove and with solid fuel like wood.
I gave use 4 stars because you have to make sure that the pot you are using fits inside the elevated potrests or is big enough to fit stabil on top of them.
I did make some reviews on youtube.
Overall. very happy with this well constructed, functional and lightweight option.
